Bossa Jazz Trio
December 5 @ 7:30 pm
Back by popular demand
Few can blend the voices of their instruments like John, Al, and Roger. The Actors Studio is thrilled to bring these brilliant musicians back to our stage. Please join us for an evening of superb Latin American and Spanish music. Educated at the Boston Conservatory of Music, John Tavano has developed a classical guitar repertoire ranging from the Music of the Renaissance and Baroque to Classical, Flamenco, Jazz and Bossa Nova.
Roger Kimball has always been interested in diverse musical styles. (Even as a teenager he toured Europe and the Middle East as a cellist with a symphony orchestra and played bass guitar in a rock band.) Roger has had the honor of playing jazz upright bass at New York City’s Bluenote and Shenandoah Jazz festival in Virginia, among other venues, and has collaborated with Carlos Santana as well as the late Brad Delp of the band Boston. He regularly teaches cello, electric bass and upright bass at The Real School of Music in Andover.
Alan Whitney has been a musician, educator and mentor for over four decades and continues to work on multiple projects with numerous trio/ quartet configurations to present day. Alan has been a New England jazz guitar staple, educator and local favorite for decades and who is known for, ’blending superb technique with thoughtful interpretation’.
