Full Moon Story Slam - Held at The Firehouse

Sunday, December 3 at 7pm

Theme: This I believe

The Actors Studio of Newburyport’s Full Moon Super Story Slam. In 2017, The Actors Studio of Newburyport hosted four story slams, all at the Studio's black box theatre. Tonight's Super Story Slam is the year's finale in which we invite all of our 2017 Full Moon Story Slam winners to tell us one more tale - this time a longer story focused around the theme - This I believe.

The Super Story Slam also features a celebrity storyteller. This year's celebrity is the North Shore's favorite son, author, André Dubus III. André will kick off the evening with his personal story on the theme of 'This I believe.'

In between our winner's stories, audience members will be invited to come to the stage to tell a short "2-minute" story of their own related to the theme. Story slams are not scripted or cast in advance, but depend and thrive on audience participation so we encourage you to consider sharing your own short story about tonight's theme.

What is a Story Slam? Simply put, a story slam is a competition based on the art of storytelling. It puts a dual emphasis on content and performance, encouraging storytellers to focus on what they're saying and how they're saying it. It is an exercise in crafting stories within a set time limit and it is great entertainment! Story slammers sign up on the night of the slam to tell a story on the evening's theme.
